Hylee Training News – July 2020

Hey Everyone,

I hope everyone is staying dry in this wet weather we have been having:) I know we have been working hard at keeping everything here dry. We do have a bit of news here to share with you this month.

Hunter Show

While we just couldn’t get the numbers for over fences show and the flat show was too wet . Assuming its going to dry out a little bit for August – we have decided to go ahead and schedule a schooling show for Aug 2nd which is a Sunday.

Aug 2, 2020 Schooling Show Details

The schooling show is really meant as an entry show. It’s specifically designed for those who are new to showing or getting back into showing .There is also a division for walk/trot and walk/jog for both kids and adults. We have hired a Learner Judge who will be coming with her mentor. This will be an educational opportunity for everyone. You can find the class list here. The entry fee is $20 per division. Lesson students who need a lesson horse will be charged $25 horse rental fee.

Lesson Horses

Obviously, we have limited lesson horses, therefore, the sooner you sign up the better. As a result, of our entries being limited to 30 maximum early sign up is best. Sign up can be made by messaging the page, Alicia, or letting us during your regular lesson time.

Dress Requirements

English riders will be required to wear a helmet, paddock boots, half chaps and breeches. No jackets are required. For Western riders, you will need jeans/chaps, western style boots and either a helmet or a cowboy hat.  In other words, workmanlike attire is preferred and full show attire not required.

Riding Level
For my current lesson students, riders should be consistently walk and trotting or jogging independently off the lunge line to participate. Therefore, riders will be spending the next few weeks preparing for the classes for the show in their lesons. Do not be discouraged if you do not know what all the classes mean:)

Besides the show, at this time we will not be putting on any camps this summer, However, our cow days will be resuming soon. We’ve got the hydro pole and and all the materials to get the power to the barn (and a massive heater) so this winter we should be toasty.

Look forward to seeing you all this month.

Spring Horse Sale March 15, 2020

Welcome to the first ever Spring Horse Sale here at Hylee Training, in Prince George, BC. This sale is really a venue where sellers and buyers can meet. We are not an auction or an agent and sellers and buyers will work together to complete a sale. Our goal is simply to connect buyers and sellers.

All horses at the sale are under saddle with a minimum of 30 days. Horses will be scheduled with 4 horses available for viewing per hour. A catalog will be emailed to potential buyers along with a schedule before the sale. Horses will be ridden by the owner/trainer and buyers are also able to test ride horses.

For Buyers

Interested in coming and trying a few horses at once? If you are in the market for a new project or finished horse, simply send a quick email via the contact page and what you are looking for. Once we have the scheduled finalized – we will send it along with any signed up horses. There is no fee for buyers but we do ask that you sign up to attend. Buyers should come ready to ride and try some horses on the day of the sale!

For Consignees

If you have a horse for sale and are interested in consigning it? Our horse sale is a great way to meet new potential buyers. Its simple, simply send in a nice conformation shot of your horse – free of background clutter to be featured along with the usual details to alicia@hyleetraining.com. Then send along the $20 fee to the same email.

Consignees are under no requirement to sell their horse at the sale but we obviously hope that you do!

A schedule of the day will be put together and let you know when your horse will be featured by March 1st.

SOLD – Robyn – WB/Pinto Gelding

Robyn is an 8 year old Warmblood Pinto gelding standing 14.1 h. Robyn has previously been lightly evented and is bold to the fences.  He looks for a one on one relationship with his rider and was previously owner by a junior rider.

Robyn ties, lunges, bathes etc.. all very well. UTD on all. Robyn is currently barefoot. Robyn is a willing partner ready to take on the world with a junior or adult amateur rider. He has not been ridden hard thus, the good mind and little wear and tear.

Asking 5500 OBO

At this time in his career, Robyn would be best suited for an experienced adult amateur or a junior in a program. It could go a variety of ways including but not limited to western dressage, eventing, jumpers or just an all round horse, he really does love to learn.

SOLD: Mak – WB Percheron Gelding

Mak is a 6 year old Percheron/Oldenburg cross gelding standing an amazing 18.2 hh. He has had 60 days training with a solid walk/trot. Albeit still green, shows promise in his willingness. He is an in your pocket type and loves attention.  He ties, catches, lunges well and is UTD on feet, worming and vaccines. He has been very well taken care of. He does best in a situation with ample amount of turnout, due to his size.

Mak is offered for sale due to no fault of his own but his size and level of training makes him unsuitable for his beginner owner.

New Price $4000 obo for a quick sale

Please email alicia@hyleetraining.com for appointments to see him and for any questions. Videos and conformation shots will be posted as they come available to this page. Located in Mission, BC 604.771.7433

SOLD: Tofino – 6 yr old Warmblood

Tofino is a sweatheart of a gelding standing at 16.2h you wouldn’t know it with his puppy dog personality. Tofino is brave on the ground and easy to work with. Lunges like a dream and works off the voice easily.

Undersaddle Tofino is easy to navigate, responsive and has his flying changes. He has been jumped up to 2’6″ and done a couple of schooling shows.

The one negative I can think about Tofino is his injury, he has previously injured his SI and at the time it was realized in April 2017 it was injected.  We have had him for the past year and have simply used monthly massage treatments to manage and he has not had one off step.

Has been used in lesson string but would like riders that are a bit more brave then what we have here at this time.

  • UTD Feet, Tetanus
  • Does not require shoes
  • Currently in group paddock situation
  • Does well in pasture
  • Does not require grain on 24/7 hay
  • Has previously been used in lessons for intermediate riders

Asking 2000 obo
