Our Coaching Philosphy

At Hylee Training, are passion is constantly learning and horses and we want to share that with you! We work with horses and riders to create individualize plans to help athletes achieve their goals. Our systematic approach includes an honest review of the current level of both horse and rider, simple and clear exercises to develop specific skills needed, and continued learning both on and off the horse in a safe and supportive environment so riders can be successful at whatever the goals might be. Anyone who is willing to put in the hardwork each week and continually learn has the ability to be successful in our program.

In an ideal world with a rider who is motivated to succeed thru hard work. Here is how an average rider who is willing to work hard can progress through our program.

Our Program Is Broken into Tracks

Our program is broken into tracks for our various levels of riders. Each level of rider has their own track of activities to complete through the year. We ensure each athlete has a horse to suits his/her goals which we do buy purchasing for the rider, using one of our current lesson horses or training the horse with one of our trainers so the horse is ready for the athlete’s goals.

Our program includes riders who have never ridden before coming here and who do own a horse. Those riders fit into our Beginner Track. On the other end of a spectrum we have riders who own multiple horses who are in training full time and who ride their horse many times a week. See below for a break down of the different tracks our program offers.

Beginner Track riders are taught by EC Instructors on well trained safe lesson horses. Our beginner program focuses creating well rounded riders who have confidence in their riding, are safe around horses and who are always working on improving their horse knowledge. Our beginner riders generally ride once or twice week in a lesson.

Intermediate Rider Track is for those who are improving the current maneuvers and are working on rhythm, feel and timing. Those riders may also be interested in learning about showing. Riders focus on the performance events. That includes showmanship, trail, ranch riding, pleasure and horsemanship. We do not specialize our riders at this level. Encouragement in trying different events is crucial at this level of learning. Our intermediate riders, may own a horse, use one of ours or may lease. They ride in 1 or 2 lessons/week and commit to additional learning outside of lessons whether that be leasing, practice riding,etc..These riders will start developing their showing knowledge thru schooling shows and larger shows. Intermediate riders are taught by EC Competition Coaches or those working toward their certifications.

Advanced Rider Track is for those who are interested in really competing. These riders will own/lease a horse, participate in at least two lessons/week and have committed to participating in off the horse training. Riders will show quite a bit over a season as they really learn how to compete. Riders may still have not specialized yet but are competing comfortable in larger shows. These riders are willing to participate in off the horse training to improve their riding.

High Performance Track is for those who have decided to specialize in either Reining or General Performance. These riders have quite a bit of showing experience and are no longer learning about showing but are focused on training to win in the show pen. These riders are expected to participate in off the horse training with a team of specialist to improve their riding. These riders generally will have one or more horses and will be riding at minimum 5 times per week.
