Hylee Training sometimes has opportunities for riders to work off some of their lessons. In total, we have 8 positions available at any given time.

There are three levels available.

While this is an opportunity to students we expect students to treat it as a job. All volunteers/ working students must have a current first aid certificate. Anyone working in or around the horses under 18 must have parental consent.

Here is what we expect of you:

  • Must be there every week *
  • 2 weeks notice is required to miss a weekend
  • To come with a lunch (1 hour is available for lunch)
  • Must be able to tack up a horse one your own
  • Must be to turnout horses (Except the 13 and under)

 

How can you start?

Please send an email with a resume to Alicia@hyleetraining.com with Working Student Program in the subject line. The resume is not required to be long, but must is include past horse experience, age and related activities. Applications without a resume are not accepted.

Students aged 8-13

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Sweeping of tack, feed etc areas
  • Taking out of garbage
  • Raking paddocks, ring, etc..
  • Tack cleaning
  • Must be at barn by 9 am – 3pm

What you receive in return:

  • $15 off your group lesson

Students aged 14 – 18

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Turn in/turnout of horses
  • Cleaning stalls
  • Water bucket cleaning
  • Various other duties
  • Must be at the barn by 8 am – 4pm

What you receive in return

  • $25 off your private lesson

Teaching working students

  • Overseeing weekend staff
  • Theory Nights
  • Teaching lessons
  • Feeding of horses
  • Ring Maintenance

What you receive in return:

  • Free weekly lessons
  • Mentoring through the certification program
  • A chance to teach students while being mentored
  • Use of lesson horses for teaching
  • Lease of a show horse

*Except Christmas Day and Christmas Eve Day
